Meet Nastya - 14 years old
She's been living in an orphanage for about a year and is in the ninth grade. She has understanding, kind grey eyes. Her brother is in a different orphanage. She has two grandmothers, whom she visits every summer. She helps with all the household chores and will soon be the head of the household. Nastya dreams of someday going to college. |

Meet Genia - 16 years old
He's lived in an orphanage since the age of 12. Like all boys in the eleventh grade, he dreams of soon finishing school and starting his life. Even though grown-up life has it's hard times, which he knows from his own experiences - fear and laziness are not in his character. He has a goal - to build a house, which he yearns to build with his own hands. Genia has a knack for the technical aspect of things. |

Meet Sergei - 17 years old
First in his class, he loves music and computers. He dreams of someday going to college, like all other boys. He prefers math to literature and works on his lessons two hours a day. He dreams of becoming a world class chef - but it's hard, because after 7 surgeries, it's still difficult for him to stand up. He has Cerebral Palsy and he should be confined to a wheelchair. But he is a fighter and he has actually walked! Sergei believes that a lot of things in life will work out. We also believe this. |

Meet Sergei - 24 years old
He is HIV positive. He found out 3 years ago. It took him half a year to accept the truth. Aided by his friends, at least the ones who didn't turn their back on him, he has accepted his fate. When and where he contracted the disease is unknown. It was a moment of irresponsibility, with a deadly result. He does not have much time. He wants to be close to his family, girlfriend and child. Sergei wants spread the word that there is always 'a choice to be made' in any situation. The choice you make could mean the difference between life and death. |

Meet Ruslan - 19 years old
He's from Chechnya and recently moved to Nizhny Novgorod. After school, he decided to apply to college. So how it is going? Hard to answer. He had friends in Nizhny, that's why he chose this town. But applying to college turned out to be more difficult than he expected. You see, the term "Chechen" has a very negative connotation in these parts. He moved out of the dorm because people and teachers discriminated against him. He doesn't believe that everyone can be like this. He persisted at his dream and was finally accepted to the Linguistic University. Ruslan is a very intelligent, energetic and talented. We wish him success! |
